who we are.

Our goals at True Life Church (TLC) are three-fold: to bring HOPE to the hurting, LOVE to the lonely, and to restore FAITH to those who may find themselves wandering.

We don’t want to merely exist in Joshua, but to be an ASSET to the greater Joshua area, and in doing so, help ALL people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that strong churches are built one healthy soul at a time, so we are committed to investing in the community and its citizens.

We want to bring the Love of Christ to the city in a hands-on way. We’re not in Joshua for the scenery; we’re here to bring the love of Jesus Christ in a way that changes the landscapes of people’s lives and futures.

Maybe it’s been a long time since you’ve been to church. Maybe it’s been a while since you’ve felt like you belonged. Maybe you’re needing direction for you and your family. Whatever your need, we believe that you will find answers at True Life Church. Everyone needs a little TLC.

Our Vision: Transform our community one soul at a time.

Our Mission: To build FAITH, restore HOPE, show LOVE.

what we believe.

OUR BELIEFS

We believe the New Testament church is built upon the foundation of the apostles, prophets, and Jesus Christ, who is the chief cornerstone of the church. Therefore, the foundation of our beliefs, imperatives, and actions are based upon the literal word of God. We seek to glorify God by applying the principles of His word to our everyday lives (Ephesians 2:20-22).

THE BIBLE

The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living (2 Timothy 3:15-17).

GOD

There is one God, who has revealed Himself in three primary roles: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. He is both God and man (Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; 1Timothy 3:16).

GOSPEL

The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (2 Thessalonians 1:8; 1 Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection) (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4; 37-39; Acts 10:44-48; Romans 6:3-4).

SIN & SALVATION

Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Because all have sinned, we believe everyone must be born again of water and Spirit to enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:3-5). Salvation comes by grace through faith, based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9).

REPENTANCE

We believe that all people are called to repent. Repentance is a commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Jesus fully (Acts 2:38; 17:30; Matthew 3:1-2; Isaiah 55:7-7).

WATER BAPTISM

We believe that every believer is commanded by the Word of God to be baptized in water in the Name of Jesus. Water baptism is a physical act of obedience that allows us to identify with Jesus in His death and burial. We are buried (submerged) in water baptism, so that we may rise to walk in a new life (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38, 8:12, 16, 36-38, 10:48, 16:33, 19:5, 22:16; Mark 16:16; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12).

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is active in the world today and that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the privilege and promise of all believers (Mark 1:7-8; John 14:16-18; Acts 1:5, 8, 2:1-4, 38-39, 4:31, 8:17, 10:44-45, 19:6).

CHRISTIAN LIVING

As Christians, we strive to exemplify the words of Jesus Christ to love God with all of our heart, soul, and mind, as well as love others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today (Matthew 22:37-39; Mark 12:28-31; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; 1 Corinthians 12:8-10).
